Instagram is picky — pay a few cents more
Instagram is one of the stricter services. It maintains lists of number ranges it associates with bulk signups, and codes sent to a flagged range are quietly never delivered. This is not a fault in the number you rented; it is Instagram declining to send at all.
In practice the fix is boringly simple: avoid the very cheapest row in the table. A rock-bottom price almost always means a heavily recycled range. Mid-priced countries have been used less and deliver far more reliably. If a number is rejected outright at the entry screen, cancel it — you get everything back — and take a different country rather than the next number in the same one.
What to do when the code stalls
Give it ninety seconds before you touch anything. Instagram queues SMS and a slow delivery looks identical to a failed one for the first minute. If nothing has landed by then, use the resend control on the activation page once — that asks Instagram to send again to the same live number.
Still nothing after the second attempt is a range problem, not a timing problem. Cancel, take a number in a different country, and the first charge is returned to your wallet in full.

Instagram verification questions
Why did Instagram not send a code to my number?
Almost always because the range is on Instagram's internal blocklist from previous bulk use — it declines to send rather than sending something you never see. Cancel the number for a full refund and buy in a different, slightly more expensive country.
Can I use the same number for Instagram and Threads?
The Instagram listing covers Threads as well, but only while the number is still live. Once the roughly twenty-minute window closes the number is released, so complete both verifications in the same session if you need both.
How long do I have to enter the code?
The number stays yours for about 20 minutes, which is longer than any verification screen keeps its own timer open. If the code has not arrived by the time the number expires, the charge is returned to your wallet automatically.
Do I pay if no code arrives?
No. You are charged when a code is delivered. If the SMS never lands before the number expires, or you cancel the number after the two-minute grace period because the service rejected it, the full amount goes straight back to your wallet balance.
